AUSTIN – Justice Jimmy Blacklock, who Governor Greg Abbott appointed as his first choice for the Texas Supreme Court, has now been endorsed by a bi-partisan group of eleven former Texas Supreme Court Justices.

The endorsements include support for Justice Blacklock from Senator John Cornyn, former Chief Justices Wallace Jefferson and Tom Phillips, and former Justice Raul Gonzalez, a Democrat who was the first Hispanic Texan ever to hold statewide office.

These former members of the Court understand what it takes to serve the People of Texas with integrity and distinction on the state’s highest civil court. Texans can trust Justice Blacklock to uphold the Rule of Law by applying the law exactly as it is written, never substituting his own views or opinions for the requirements of the law. These endorsements are further evidence of Justice Blacklock’s reputation across partisan lines as a qualified, hard-working, and fair-minded judge.

Justice Jimmy Blacklock is running a contested statewide race for re-election to Place 2 on the Texas Supreme Court. He is honored to have the endorsement of these distinguished former members of the
Court:

Governor Greg Abbott
Senator John Cornyn
Chief Justice Tom Phillips
Chief Justice Wallace Jefferson
Justice Raul A. Gonzalez
Justice Harriet O’Neill
Justice Scott Brister
Justice Craig Enoch
Justice Deborah Hankinson
Justice David Medina
Justice Dale Wainwright
